Resources

Our Family and Community Engagement (FACET) team has collected awesome resources for social-emotional learning; housing, food, and healthcare; academics; voting; and enrichment. You can explore these resources here.

Local mental health and crisis resources (available over the summer) are listed here.

The AF Pandemic Resource Hub has information about events and resources to support our families during this challenging time. Check it out here.

Interested in getting involved with local civic engagement organizations and/or interested in legal/immigration support? Check out our Brownsville Civic Engagement Resources handout.

Resources from the Technology Workshop are here: Workshop Recording, Family Link App, Screen Time Chart, and Articles on Screen Time:

Looking for free financial support? NYC Consumer Affairs is providing free 1:1 financial counseling. Get support around managing debt and student loan payments and accessing emergency government resources. Check it out here.

NYS has passed legislation to ensure and protect residential tenants at risk of non-payment or holdover eviction who cannot pay their rent through May 21, 2021. You can find documents and forms related to the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020 at https://nycourts.gov/covid-eefpa.shtml, and you can find more resources on the AF Advocacy Resource Hub here.

Information on the Supplemental Emergency Allotment (EA) of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits for households, and the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer, can be found here. If you expected to receive benefits and have not, or have other questions, please submit an inquiry through the P-EBT Information Form. While we are not able to assist directly, we are continuing to advocate for better support from the state.

Transportation

School busing and student MetroCards will continue to be provided by the NYCDOE’s Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) when in-person instruction begins. As always, OPT will determine bus and MetroCard eligibility for all scholars. We will assign transportation for your scholar based on eligibility and the preferences you indicated in the Family Remote/In-Person Opt-in Survey. Reach out to Ms. Niemiec with any questions.
